MoU signing between UIU and BRAC University for Research Collaboration
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between United International University (UIU) and BRAC University (BRACU) for research collaboration on 19 January 2026 (Monday) at 3:00 PM at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka-1212.
Prof. Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice Chancellor, BRAC University was present as the Chief Guest in the ceremony. Prof. Dr. Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor, BRAC University and Mr. Ariful Islam, Treasurer, BRAC University were present as the Special Guests in the program.
While Mr. Hasan Mahmood Raja, Chairman, Board of Trustees, UIU, Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor, UIU, Professor Emeritus Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director of IAR & Former VC of UIU were present in the ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor of UIU and the Vice Chancellor of BRAC University signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities. While the deans of different faculties, heads of different departments, registrar, directors, faculty members and high officials of both universities were present in the ceremony.
This Memorandum of Understanding will support collaborative research, high-caliber publications in respected journals, and the potential for cooperative research partnerships between UIU and BRAC University. Faculty members from both universities' research fields will get research money.
The Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) at United International University has spent over 80 million taka since 2019, thanks to the active financial support of the United Group. The IAR has been at the forefront of providing Research and Development (R&D) funds to researchers to support high-quality research activities in different research areas.
In addition, UIU collaborated with other national and international organizations and funded research grants. With over 120 ongoing research projects, IAR now awards research money twice a year.
