PLC Lab Inaugurated and PLC Training Course Launched at UIU
The Power & Energy Training Academy (PETA) of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at United International University (UIU) inaugurated the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Lab and launched a PLC training course titled “Mastering PLC & Industrial Automation with SCADA and HMI” at the UIU campus yesterday.
The course focuses on practical, hands-on learning in PLC and industrial automation. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and prepare UIU graduates for future careers in the industrial automation sector.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU was present as the Chief Guest and Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan, Department of EEE, UIU was present as the Guest of Honor in the inaugural ceremony.
While, Prof. Dr. Siddique Md. Lutful Kabir and Prof. Dr. Raqibul Mostafa from Department of EEE, UIU were present at the program. Dr. Sadid Muneer, Associate Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator of EEE, UIU presided over the ceremony.
Chief Guest Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia said that students should develop practical and industry-oriented skills alongside their academic studies. He highlighted the growing importance of automation, smart technologies, and modern industrial systems in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
He also expressed hope that the newly established lab and training course would play a significant role in helping students develop hands-on expertise in PLC and industrial automation.
The Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan highlighted the increasing demand for skilled professionals with expertise in PLC and industrial automation. He emphasized that industry-oriented training can bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical workplace requirements, enabling graduates to contribute more effectively to the industrial sector.
Other Speakers discussed the growing applications of PLC technology in modern industries. They highlighted how PLC-based automation is transforming industrial processes by improving efficiency, reliability, precision and operational safety.
They also encouraged students to develop practical competencies and explore the diverse applications of automation technologies in real-world industrial environments.
With this new facility, UIU continues to advance experiential learning and nurture future-ready engineers equipped to contribute to a rapidly evolving industrial landscape. Heads of different departments, faculty members, industry experts, officials, students and distinguished guests attended the program.
