50 BRAC University students selected for Millennium Fellowship
For the fourth year, a cohort of 50 students from BRAC University has been selected for the 2025 Millennium Fellowship for undertaking social impact projects advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) principles.
This is the largest group of students to be selected from BRAC University since 2021, when the first group of 14 students from the university and from Bangladesh enrolled for the fellowship.
Run by United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN), the Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long global leadership program for undergraduates.
The initiative empowers young leaders to promote the UN SDGs and UNAI principles by developing and implementing impactful, time-bound community service projects designed to create measurable change.
In 2022, there were 22 Millennium Fellows from BRAC University and 26 in 2024.
This year, student leaders from 7,500+ campuses across 160+ nations applied to join the Class of 2025. Over 290 campuses (just 4 percent) across 47 countries were selected to host 4000+ Millennium Fellows this year.
A program was organized marking the selection of this year’s Millennium Fellows by Social Impact Lab under the School of General Education on BRAC University’s Merul Badda campus on 15 October 2025.
The Social Impact Lab will be providing mentorship and strategic guidance and enabling collaborations for scaling the initiatives, building sustainable community models, and turning ideas into measurable social impact.
This year’s projects involve a myriad of initiatives such as climate resilience, digital empowerment, menstrual and reproductive health, breast cancer awareness, equitable education, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, creative expression, and civic participation.
Through the Millennium Fellowship, BRAC University advances a wide range of SDGs by empowering students to translate ideas into tangible community impact.
The fellows’ projects directly contribute to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
In addition, the fellowship embodies SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by nurturing ethical leadership, civic engagement, and global collaboration in advancing sustainable development.
