
“Meet the Champions of UIU” held at UIU
The App Forum (AF) a wing of Directorate of Career Counseling & Student Affairs (DCCSA), United International University (UIU) organized a reception ceremony titled “Meet the Champions of UIU”.
The reception ceremony was held on August 09, 2025 (Saturday) at 1:30 PM at UIU Campus for three robotics teams (UIU Mars Rover, UIU Ascend and UIU Mariner) that have recently achieved significant success in various international robotics competitions.
Mr. Ariful Hasan Opu, President of Space Innovation Camp and Adviser for NASA Space Apps Challenge BD was present as the Special Guest at the ceremony. Among others, Professor Emeritus Dr. M Rezwan Khan, Executive Director, Institute for Advanced Research (IAR), UIU and Prof. Dr. Hasan Sarwar, Dean, School of Science and Engineering, UIU spoke at the program. The program was presided over by Prof. A.S.M. Salahuddin, Vice Chancellor (In-charge), UIU.
“UIU Mars Rover Team” has secured 1st place in Asia for the fourth consecutive time and 6th place globally in the University Rover Challenge 2025 competition organized by the Mars Society of the United States. “UIU Mars Rover Team” has secured 1st place in Asia in the University Rover Challenge competitions of 2022, 2023 and 2024. “UIU Mars Rover Team” has also secured 3rd place in the world and 1st place in Asia in the Anatolian Rover Challenge (ARC) 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious international robotics competitions organized by the Space Exploration Society of Turkey (UKET).
The UIU MARINER, Bangladesh’s first-ever university team from UIU won 5th place globally MATE ROV World Championship 2025 in the PIONEER Class. The team also secured 1st place in Asia and was named Technical Documentation Champion organized by the Marine Technology Society, USA.
The ‘UIU ASCEND’ team from UIU won 2nd place in Asia and 7th place in the World at the CanSat Competition 2025 organized by the American Astronautical Society (AAS), USA. The UIU team stood 3rd in Asia and 11th place in the World at the CanSat Competition 2024.
The Special Guest Mr. Ariful Hasan Opu, congratulated the three winning robotics teams of UIU at the beginning and said that these teams are changing the technology map of Bangladesh. He especially thanked the “UIU Mars Rover” team for securing 1st place in Asia for the fourth consecutive time. He advised the students to focus on technology along with their academic studies for success in this era of globalization.
A total of 150 students from 9 colleges in Dhaka city, including Notre Dame College, Govt. Science College, Adamjee Cantonment College, BAF Shaheen College, Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, Navy College, Dhaka, Shaheed Police Smrity College participated in the program. In addition, teachers from different universities, officials, students and invited distinguished guests were present in the program.
