Santal Revolt Day observed in Gaibandha

Santal Revolt Day-2025 was observed in Santal dominated areas of Gobindaganj upazila in the district yesterday  with a call to protect their  tradition, culture and heritage. 

Marking the day, Abalamban, a non-government voluntary organization which works for ensuring the rights of the people of indigenous and ethnic communities here chalked out the elaborate programmes.
 
In the morning around 10 am, an angry procession was brought out from  the premises of Satana Alorghar Shishu Shikkha Kendra under Kamdia union and ended at the same venue after parading main roads of the union.
 
Later, a discussion meeting was held on the premises of Satana Alorghar Shishu Shikkha Kendra with president of Sahebganj-BagdaFarm Bhumi Uddhar Sangram Committee Ganesh Murmu in the chair. 

Moderated by Ariful Islam Mizan, adviser of the committee, the meeting was also addressed among others by president of Bangladesh Adibashi union Rebeka Saren, general secretary Srekanto Mahato, president of Adibashi Parishad Adv. Sirazul Islam Babu, general secretary of Bhumiheen Andolon, Naser Uddin, Mollah, general secretary of Bhumi Uddhar Sangram Committee, Zafrul Islam, A dibashi leaders- Milton Hembrom, Romil Hembrom, social workers Jogesswar Barman and Tajul Islam. 

The speakers in their speeches said the Santal community are deprived of their rights in independent country. They demanded of the government to take necessary measures to protect their tradition and heritage. 

They also demanded of the government not to establish EPZ on the land of Santal community.
