Islamist parties urge unity to start Islamist rule

Several Islamist and other political parties joining the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday called for unity among the Islamist parties towards introducing Islamist rule in the country.

After the ouster of the fascist Awami League regime, a scope was created for introducing Islamist rule in the country, they said in the rally.

They also demanded the next general election to be in the proportional representation system by ensuring a level-playing field for all.

The Islami Andolan Bangladesh sought unity of the Islamist political parties  before the next general election, calling for them to take part in the next general elections together.

Addressing the rally, IAB secretary general Yunus Ahmed called on the Islamist political parties to unite for waging movements to hold next general election in the proportional representation system.

Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish secretary general Ahmed Abdul Kader also called on the Islamist political parties to continue unity for victory of the Islamist political parties in the next general election.

National Citizen Party member secretary of the Akhter Hossen attending the rally demanded holding the next general election after required reforms of the ruling system and in the proportional representation system.

Hefazat Islam central leader Mohiuddin Rabbani also called for unity of the Islamist political parties to establish Islamist rule in the country.

He also demanded holding next election in the PR system.

Bangladesh Nezam-e-Islami secretary general Musa Bin Izhar called on all the political parties to unite to resist the revival of the fascist Awami League force in Goplganj.

Bangladesh Khalefat Majlish Amir Abu Zafar Kashemi demanded the implementation of the spirit of July uprising before the next general elections.

Bangladesh Khelfat Andolan leader Mojibur Rahman demanded the implementation of Islamist rule in the country.

Bangladesh Development Party chair AKM Anwarul Islam said that a political party was opposing reform as they wanted to go to power immediately.

Jamaat assistant secretary general Hamidur Rahman Azad demanded holding the next general elections in the PR system and incorporating the system in the constitution. 

Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur called on the interim government to hold the next general elections after ensuring level-playing field for all political parties.

Khelafat Majlish leader Yusuf Ashraf said that after the overthrow of the fascist Awami League regime a scope arose for the victory of the Islamist political forces.

NCP chief organiser for North Sarjis Alam said that they must resist fascist activities in Gopalganj.

Jatiya Hindu Mahajote general secretary Gobinda Chandra Pramanik said that the Hindu community was deprived of their rights during the past 16-year rule of the Awami League and also during the BNP rule in the past.

He also wanted the next general elections to be held in the PR system to ensure free, fair, and credible polls.

Jatiya Ganatantrik Party president Rashed Prodhan called on the interim government to ban the Awami League as a political party.

Some family members of martyred of the July uprising and some wounded also spoke in the rally and expressed their dissatisfactions over delaying the implementation of the spirit of the July uprising that forced the ouster of the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina on August 5 in 2024.

Jamaat organised the grand rally with its amir Shafiqur Rahman in the chair to press its seven-point demands, including ensuring a level-playing field before the next general elections, holding the elections in the proportional representation system, holding the local government elections before the general elections.
