
Santal leader Priscilla Murmu remembered
Priscilla Murmu, a female leader of ethnic community Santal was remembered in the district with due respect.
In this regard, a condolence meeting jointly organized by a social platform Jano Uddyog, and a non-government development organization A bolamban was held at its auditorium of the town here on Monday.
Before beginning the meeting, a floral wreath was placed at the portrait of Priscilla Murmu and a minute silence was also observed in respect of late Murmu. Then a discussion meeting was held with president of district environmental movement Waziur Rahman Raphel in the chair.
Member secretary of Jano Uddyog Probir Chakrabartee, president of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, district unit Riktu Prosad, Ferdous Ahmed Jewel, Golam Rabbani Musa, Kaiser A hmed Rumel, Nazma Begum, Titas Murmu addressed the meeting among others.
The speakers in their speeches said being a leader of Santal community here Priscilla Murmu worked for the welfare and human rights of the community, She also fought for the Santal in a bid to push forward the community towards desired goals, they added.
A number of social workers, human rights activists, NGO representatives took part in the programs.
