Embassy officials of Denmark and Switzerland Visited Southeast University

Southeast University (SEU) hosted two high-level visits from the Embassies of Denmark and Switzerland in August 2025. These visits focused on strengthening academic and research collaborations between SEU and institutions in these European countries.

The Embassy of Denmark was represented by Mr. Ole Rosenborg Justesen, Sector Counsellor, and Mr. Fahim Abrar, Associate Advisor for Sustainable Production on August 21 (Thursday), 2025. Later, on August 26 (Tuesday), 2025, the Embassy of Switzerland team headed by Mr. Alberto Giovanetti, Counsellor and Head of Political, Economic & Communication Affairs, and Mr. Khaled Chowdhury, Senior Political, Economic & Press Officer visited.They were warmly received by SEU’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Mofazzal Hossain, Registrar Maj Gen Md Anwarul Islam (Retd), deans, and directors. 

Mr. Justesen shared that Denmark recognizes Bangladesh’s extensive data resources on agriculture, climate, environment, and labor—a valuable asset for research-driven policy-making and academic inquiry. He also discussed scholarship and funding opportunities in Denmark, including Danish government grants and university-specific programs for Master's and Ph.D. students.The session focused on discussing potential collaborations in the fields of agriculture, climate change, the environment, and labor issues, as well as opportunities for higher education and research funding in Denmark.

During the Switzerland Embassy visit, the team highlighted the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships, offered by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), as a primary opportunity for Ph.D. and postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines. Mr. Alberto Giovanetti emphasized the importance of cross-institutional research collaboration and research-based learning, whereas Mr. Khaled Chowdhury shared the Swiss Embassy's readiness to facilitate partnerships between SEU and Swiss universities and provided practical advice on the application procedure, eligibility, and thematic areas of priority.

The meetings aimed to promote youth leadership, research, and community development through joint project development, student internships, collaborative research, and capacity-building programs.
