
Southeast University Hosts Discussion on July Remembrance
Southeast University honored 'July Remembrance 2025' with a solemn discussion and documentary screening on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Held at the university's Multipurpose Hall, the event highlighted the sacrifices of martyrs Abu Saeed, Mugdha, and four other Southeast University martyrs. Speakers emphasized the significance of the movement and the pioneering role students played.
The discussion, presided over by Southeast University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, featured Mrs. Farzana Munmun, also known as Munamma, aunt of martyr Farhan Fayyaz, as a special guest speaker. Professor Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Southeast University, also delivered a special address.
The program commenced with the national anthem, followed by the screening of a documentary on the fiery July Movement. Professor Dr. Farhana Helal Mahtab, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Southeast University and convener of the event implementation committee, delivered the introductory remarks.
Other important speakers included Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Dean of Southeast Business School, and Major General Md. Anwarul Islam (Retd.), the university's Registrar. During the discussion segment, Southeast University faculty and students who participated in the July Movement shared their reminiscences.
Among those present at the event were deans of various faculties, heads of departments, faculty members, officials, staff, and students.
